Last week I was fortunate to attend a small reader's theater-style performance of the late Nora Ephron's and her sister Delia Ephron's play, "Love, Loss, and What I Wore." This special event was in support of the Santa Barbara Breast Cancer Resource Center.
According to Daryl Roth Theatrical Licensing, ""Love, Loss, and What I Wore' is based on the best-seller by Ilene Beckerman as well as the recollections of the Ephrons’ friends. The show uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories that all women can relate to, creating one of the most enduring theatergoing experiences domestically and overseas." There were many, many insights and stories I could relate to, and from the enthusiastic responses of the other audience members, I found I was not alone.
In short, this play is an excellent example of a common Wardrobe Wisdom theme: What we wear is important and says a lot about who we are.

Spring Cleaning Event!
No, I am not offering to show up at your house, mop and Windex in hand. But I do have a sure way to get you motivated to spring clean everything from your closet to your garage. On April 7, Juli Shulem, Cindy Faith Swain, and I will be on a panel, sponsored by the local Association of Women in Communications. Enjoy a lively evening of organizational insights from 3 experts, as well as a question and answer session.

I hope to see you on the 7th!

Bras. Panties, and More!
On Monday, July 27, a number of women gathered after hours at Purrmision Lingerie. Miss Kitty, aka Melanie Doctors, is the owner of this fine local store and takes her work very seriously. Thank goodness because getting the right undergarments is serious business! She and her very efficient and knowledgeable bra fitter, Tiger, offered to fit my Wardrobe Wisdom clients and friends. Most learned they were wearing the wrong size and were thrilled to discover pretty bras that truly did their jobs.
Miss Kitty and I agree that building a bra wardrobe has a great deal in common with building your outer wardrobe: spend the most on the bras you will wear the most, in accordance with your lifestyle. For example, if you wear knit, body-skimming tops several times a week, invest in a couple of t-shirt bras, one in nude and one in a darker color.
We also talked about getting away from black bras. They tend to be the go-to item when we are wearing dark colors, but why not get a bra in red or bright green, or a beautiful purple? Why indeed? Putting such a lovely thing on first thing in the morning can and should be uplifting in every sense of the word. In fact, wearing great-fitting bras, underwear, and slips just make us feel good and we are SO worth it!

Joy Work Club
A terrific women's conference will be taking place on April 24 in Santa Maria. One of my colleagues, Sara Caputo, will be speaking on creating work/life balance through communication. I will be speaking on a marketing panel as the expert on projecting a professional image.
I feel confident that this event will be very worthwhile and hope that it will be held every year. For information, go to the link: The Joy Work Club Women's Conference.
