Tangerine Tango

Oh, goody! The Pantone Group, responsible for establishing the colors we will see from blouses to picture frames next year, has chosen a bright orange-red ("Tangerine Tango") for its color of 2012. How do I look in orange-red? Like a corpse. I tried really hard to wear a light orange sherbet color one summer when I had a deep tan. Not a winning look.

What are the other colors will be trendy? Go here and learn what to expect from designers this spring and summer. And if you look good in Tangerine Tango, have a ball!

I Think What She Meant Was. . .

Gwenyth Paltrow continues to get a lot of grief for her lifestyle blog, GOOP. I subscribed to it recently, knowing she shares my passion for food and clothing, and I consider it a fun read. Others find her blog extremely offensive, saying she has no clue how the rest of the world lives and how unrealistic and insensitive her "do" and "get" sections are.

This is what I like to think she meant in her recent post: Here are some fun ideas for sprucing up your spring and summer wardrobes. Look what I picked out and see what you like. Then you can take these ideas and create them on your own. I hardly think she expects everyone to copy her style exactly, to the tune of $18,000.00.

Mixing Prints

There are women who mix prints boldly, who look chic and fun instead of merely daft. I know there is a science behind this and have marveled at those who master it. Now Anita Leclerc from the New York Times has provided guidelines for those who are a bit more challenged in the art of mixing and matching. I feel inspired by her article to take more chances when I get dressed. Hopefully I will not look demented.

And Dresses for All

I sure like to wear a dress. Wearing a dress makes me feel feminine and attractive. Wearing a dress on a day I feel yucky lifts my spirits. Moreover, I have observed that in general women are treated with more respect and get more attention while shopping--from small boutiques to the farmers' market--when they wear a dress.

This season there are a zillion lovely dresses in the stores. If you already enjoy dresses, you are in shopping heaven. If you like the idea of dresses but have not embraced wearing them yet, read on. About.com has some very good posts about clothing. One I found particularly helpful is called Flattering Dresses for Every Body Type. Not all dress styles are for all women, and this post shows what styles will work the best for your body type.
